Matar Paneer

Matar Paneer is a very delicious combination of soft paneer and healthy green peas in a mild spicy tomato gravy, is a tasty treat to taste buds anytime. This simple Matar Paneer recipe makes irresistibly tasty curry that can be served with Roti, Naan, Paratha or with Steamed Rice. It is an ultimate vegetarian dish regularly enjoyed by vegetarian Indian food lovers.
Because everyone needs an easy paneer recipe to make in their kitchen and this one right here is everything that a good paneer curry should be - creamy, comforting and luscious. Indian for doesn't have to be difficult and this Matar Paneer dish proves that very well.


Matar Paneer
Ingredients
  • 250 gms paneer
  • 1 cup green peas
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • Half tsp sugar
  • 2 green chilies
  • 2 pinches of black pepper powder
  • 1/4th tsp turmeric powder
  • 10-12 cashews
  • Salt as per taste
  • Half tsp kasuri methi
  • 2 tsp butter
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 cup water

Recipe

Chop paneer into cubes or the desired shape.

Roughly chop tomatoes and chilies. Ground them to a smooth paste.

Soak cashews for 20 minutes and ground them to a smooth paste.

Heat butter in a pan and add bay leaf to it. Sauté for 30 seconds and add grounded tomato paste to it and mix well. Cook the paste till oil starts oozing out.

Now add sugar, red chili powder and garam masala. Add kasuri methi crushing it between in your palms. Mix well. Add half cup of water to it and give a nice stir.

Now add cashew paste to it and mix well. Let the gravy boil for 2 minutes the add paneer cubes and peas to it. Season with salt mix well and let it cook for a minute.

Serve hot with Naan, Paratha, Roti, Pulao or Steamed rice.


*Note - Taste of sugar can be balanced as per your taste.
