GANPATI BAPPA MORYA!!!  MODAK is a sweet dumpling made during Ganesh Chaturthi festival.  Modak is an Indian sweet popular in states of Maharashtra, Goa and in the regions of Konkan in India. The sweet filling inside of modak consist of freshly grated coconut and jagery or dry roasted coconut and powdered sugar while the outer soft shell is made from rice flour or wheat flour for crispy outer cover.  RELIGIOUS SIGNIFICANCE - Modak is considered to be the favourite sweet of Hindu deity, Ganesha or Ganpati. During Ganesh Chaturthi, the puja usually concludes with an offering of 11, 21, 51 or 101 Modaks to Ganesha as prasaad or prasadam. Modaks are made with rice flour shells or wheat flour shells. Peanut Ladoo

Peanut Ladoo is a favorite snack for kids made up with just two ingredients Peanuts and Jaggery that tastes better than store bought candies and is healthy too. In India people keep fasting on some occasions, so these ladies are one of the best options to have on fasting day. This recipe is very simple and you can prepare this anytime you want to make.  Also you can store these ladoos in an air tight container for a week or more. Peanut Ladoo Ingredients 2 cups peanuts 1 cup jaggery Recipe Take peanuts and jaggery in a grinding jar. Grind them together to form a coarse mixture. Take out the mixture in a mixing bowl and mix it well. Now take small part of the mixture and start making balls out of it. Make all ladoos and serve or you can store them in an air tight container.

Fruit Custard

Fruit Custard makes an amazing dessert recipe after meals. The thick creamy custard is loved by everyone whether kids, middle aged group, youngsters or elders. A very easy to make dish that you can prepare anytime when you are free and keep it refrigerated and serve chilled whenever you wish to have it. This can be made in bulk very easily without any extra effort. Fruit Custard Ingredients 2 apples 4 bananas 2 mangoes 1 cup chopped grapes 1 cup pomegranate  2 chikoos 5-6 cherries or strawberries (for garnishing) Saffron strands (for garnishing) Milk (I took 6 glasses of milk) 4 tsp vanilla custard powder 2 cups sugar Recipe Boil milk over a medium flame. Add sugar as per your taste to it. Keep stirring.  Mix custard powder in little milk forming a paste. Add custard powder paste to the boiling milk.  Keep stirring continuously. Sooji Halwa

Sooji Halwa is a very popular Indian sweet dish and is made on religious occasions as prasad (for god). After prayer it is served to devotees as a blessing. Sooji Halwa is also known as Rawa Sheera. Sooji or Rawa is known as Semolina. Sooji Halwa Ingredients 1 cup sooji (rawa/semolina) 1 cup sugar 7-8 saffron strands (you can use saffron syrup) Half cup mixed dry fruits 1 cup milk 2-3 tsp clarified butter (ghee) Recipe Soak saffron strands in 3-4 tsp milk. Heat clarified butter (ghee) in a pan and add sooji to it. Roast sooji on a medium heat till the light sweet aroma comes out of it. Then add half of the milk to it and keep stirring. Add sugar. Here I have mentioned 1 cup sugar but the sweetness depends upon your taste so you can add sugar as per your taste. Add saffron and milk mixture and more milk to it if it is dry and mix well.
