Paratha

Paratha is a flat bread that originated in Indian Subcontinent. Parathas are often made for breakfast, lunch, dinner or tiffin boxes.
Parathas are made of different varieties like plain paratha, stuffed or spiced paratha and many more.
I usually make parathas when we have a rich gravy dish for dinner. Sometimes we like having parathas with pickle or chutneys of different types.
Parathas go well with and dry or gravy vegetable, pickle, chutney or you can have it with butter or ghee.
Today I am sharing a simple recipe of Spiced Paratha or we can also name it as Spicy Paratha. I made these parathas with Kadai Paneer and it was heavenly delicious in taste., everyone in my family loved the combination. You can check out Kadai Paneer recipe that I have already posted on the blog.

Spiced Paratha/Spicy Paratha
Ingredients
  • 2 cups wheat flour
  • 1 tsp carom seeds
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 5-6 tsp coriander leaves
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • Half tsp turmeric powder
  • Half tsp chaat masala
  • 2 tsp oil for greasing dough
  • Water
  • Salt to taste

Recipe

Finely chop coriander leaves.

Take wheat flour in a mixing bowl. Add carom seeds and sesame seeds. Add all dry spices and coriander leaves. Add salt as per your taste. Mix well.
Now start adding little water to it and knead the dough like we make for rotis. Grease the dough with little oil and let it rest for few mins.

Make small balls out of the dough. Take one ball dip it in a dry flour and coat well. Now using a rolling pin roll it nicely flat.

Heat a skillet and put the rolled paratha over it. Cook it from one side and flip it to the other side. Apply little oil from both the sides and cook till you get a nice golden crust from both the sides.

Make the remaining parathas following the same steps.

Serve hot. You can store these parathas for 2-3 days in an air tight container.
