Masala Bhindi

Bhindi known as Okra or Lady's Finger, is loved by all age groups. We see many kids love this vegetable.
Today I am sharing a simple recipe Masala Bhindi with you all, this recipe will give a twist in your daily food and taste.

Masala Bhindi

Ingredients
  • Half kg Okra/Bhindi/Lady's Finger
  • 1 medium onion 
  • 2 medium tomatoes
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • Half tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 3-4 tsp coriander leaves finely chopped
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp oil
  • Salt as per taste
Recipe

Wash okra and soak them on a kitchen towel. Dry each okra using a cloth. Cut the okra in the center and slit into four pieces each.
Thinly slice the onion and keep it aside.
Finely chop tomatoes.
Heat oil in a wok or in a fry pan and add cumin seeds to it. Add sliced onion to it and sauté them well. Once the onion start turning soft add chopped tomatoes into it. Mix well and cook till the tomatoes become soft and we get a paste like structure of it.
Now add ginger garlic paste to it and mix well.
Now add slit bhindi/okra to it. Add dry spices red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and garam masala powder to it. Add salt as per your taste and add lemon juice to it and mix well.
Cover it with a lid and cook well. Keep stirring in between.
Take out the masala bhindi in a bowl and spread coriander leaves and sesame seeds over it and serve with roti, paratha, naan, tortilla or bread.
This can be one of the best options for lunch boxes too.



*Note - While you cook tomatoes for any dish you can add few pinches of salt to it so tomatoes will get cooked faster.
*Note - Adding lemon juice to okra dish helps us to reduce stickiness of the vegetable.
*Note - Quantity of spices depend upon your taste and quantity of vegetable you want to make.
