Aaloo Paratha

Aaloo Paratha is one of the beloved dishes for all age groups. This dish is originated from Punjab, India. These days you can find this recipe everywhere in India. It is whole meal that you can have for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can have this dish with yogurt, pickle of your choice, tomato ketchup or have it as it is. 

Aaloo Paratha

Ingredients
  • 5-6 potatoes boiled and peeled off
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • Half tsp dry manga powder
  • Half tsp cumin powder
  • Half tsp coriander powder
  • 2-3 tsp finely chopped coriander leaves
  • 3 cups on wheat flour
  • Salt as per taste
  • 2 tsp oil
  • Small cup of clarified butter (ghee)
  • 2 cups of water
Recipe

Take wheat flour in a bowl add some salt to it and mix well. Start adding water slowly and knead well to make a dough. Add little oil and knead well. Cover it and leave it for 15-20 mins so that it bonds well enough to make bread.

Parboil potatoes, cool them and mash them well. Add dry spices red chili powder, turmeric powder, dry mango powder, cumin powder and salt as per taste. Add coriander leaves and mix well.
Now take a small part of the dough and roll it with rolling pin, fill the potato stuffing in it and close it from all the sides and roll it again dusting some wheat flour over it.
Heat a skillet over a medium flame and put the Paratha over it. Cook it a bit and flip to the other side applying clarified butter (ghee) over it. Flip it again and apply ghee to the other side. Cook the Paratha till it turns golden color. Prepare Parathas following the same procedure.

Serve the Parathas with pickle of your choice, yogurt or ketchup and enjoy!
