Kothimbir Vadi

Kothimbir Vadi is a most delicious snack that can be made at home simply anytime using few ingredients that we find in our kitchen.
Earlier I shared Pudachi Vadi which is also known as Kothimbir Vadi.
Todays recipe is another version of Kothimbir Vadi that I am sharing with you that is easier to make and is shallow fried.
Usually these Kothimbir Vadis are deep fried but the recipe I am sharing is shallow fried.
You can serve these Kothimbir Vadis as an appetizer, evening snack, tea time snack.
I personally love these with our Indian Masala Chai.
Enjoy making this simplest recipe of Kothimbir Vadi. We get to see this version of Kothimbir Vadi in Mumbai or Pune region in India.

Kothimbir Vadi
Ingredients
  • 2 cups finely chopped coriander leaves
  • 1 cup gram flour
  • 3-4 tsp grated dry coconut
  • 3-4 tsp crushed peanuts
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • Half tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt as per taste
  • Water to knead dough
  • Oil for frying

Recipe

Take coriander leaves in a mixing bowl and add gram flour to it. Add all dry spices to it and season with salt as per your taste.

Mix all the ingredients well. Start adding little water to it and knead a dough.

Heat water in a steamer and grease the steaming plate with little oil.

Apply little oil to your palms and take out medium sized balls out of the kneaded dough and roll it into cylindrical shape. Make all the cylinders out of the dough.

Place those cylinders on a steaming plate. Place the plate on the steamer and cover it with lid.

Cook all the cylinders for 15 minutes. Insert knife into them to check if they are cooked. If the knife comes out clean that means they are cooked.

Switch off the heat and remove the coriander cylinders out of the steamer and let them cool down completely.

After cooling cut them into pieces.

Heat 3-4 tsp oil in a pan and shallow fry the kothimbir vadis from both the sides till they turn golden brown and you see a crispy crust over them. Serve hot.

*Note - You can also deep fry the vadis.

*Note - Serve them with Ketchup or Green Chutney
