Matar Palak

We usually get to see varied dishes made of spinach. Today I am sharing a different recipe with you all Matar Palak. This is combination of boiled green peas and fresh green spinach.
This buttery recipe is very easy to make at home. We can use unsalted butter or olive oil for making this dish to make it more healthier.
This dish tastes best with Roti, Naan, Paratha, Steamed rice, Jeera Rice or Pulao.
This being a different dish, it can be served to your guests when you host a party.
Also this can be a very yummy option for your kids who docents like to ea spinach vegetable the normal way we make.


Matar Palak
Ingredients
  • 500 gms of palak
  • 200 gms of peas
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 medium sized tomato
  • 2 green chilies
  • Half inch ginger
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • Half tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp olive oil or unsalted butter
  • Salt as per taste

Recipe

Wash spinach leaves nicely.

Boil 3 cups of water and add washed spinach leaves in to it. Boil the leaves nicely and add those boiled leaves to cold water. 
Adding the boiled spinach leaves to cold water will help you retaining the natural color of the vegetable.

Boil green peas in microwave for 3-4 minutes. 

Grind the boiled spinach leaves, garlic, chilies and ginger all together to a smooth paste.

Finely chop oninn and tomato.

Heat oil in a pan and add finely chopped onion and tomatoes to it and mix well. Add 2 pinches of salt to it so the tomatoes will get cooked faster.

Now add dry spices red chili powder and garam masala to it and mix well.

Now add the grounded spinach paste and boiled green peas to it and add salt as per taste to it and mix well. Cook the vegetable for 2 minutes and serve.
