Mathri
Mathri is a Rajasthani snack. It is a kind of flaky biscuit from North-West region of India.
It is made from wheat flour and all purpose flour combination, water and carom seeds with some regular spices. This snack can be preserved and is edible and lasts long when stored in airtight jars at room temperature.
Mathri is usually served with mango, chili or lemon pickle. You can also serve these Mathris as tea time snacks.
You can also serve these when you host party, kids will surely love it.

Mathri
Ingredients
- 1 cup wheat flour
- Half cup all purpose flour
- 2-3 pinch of soda-bi-carb
- 1 tsp carom seeds
- 1 tsp crushed black pepper
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 2-3 tsp ghee
- Salt as per taste
- Water to knead dough
- Oil for frying
Recipe
Sieve wheat flour, all purpose flour and soda-bi-carb and salt all together.
Now add carom seeds, cumin seeds and crushed black pepper to it and mix well.
Now add ghee to it and mix all the ingredients well rubbing between your palms. You will get a bread crumb like texture.
Now start adding little water to it and knead a dough. Dough should not be soft, but tight and hard.
Let the dough rest for 10-15 minutes.
Now take a medium sized ball out of it and roll thin. Using a small bowl or round shape mould cut the mathris out of the rolled roti.
Heat enough oil for frying on medium heat and gently slip the cut mathris into it. Fry mathris on low heat till they turn golden brown and crispy.
Fry all the mathris by following the same procedure.
