Sabudana Vada

Sabudana Vada is most popular Maharashtrian snack made using Sago. The light and crispy Sabudana Vada is not only fun to eat light snack but also a preferred fasting food during fasting days and festivals. It is often served with spicy green chutney and with hot Chai and is best eaten fresh.

Sabudana Vada
Ingredients
  • 2 cups sabudana
  • Half cup crushed peanuts
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 3-4 potatoes
  • 2 green chilies
  • Salt as per taste
  • Coriander leaves
  • Oil for frying

Recipe

Soak sabudana for 3-4 hours.
Boil potatoes for 3-4 whistles in a pressure cooker.

Finely chop chilies and coriander leaves.

Roast peanuts and crush them in a grinder.

Take boiled potatoes in a mixing bowl and mash them. Now add soaked sabudana to it. Add crushed peanuts, chopped chilies, coriander leaves, red chili powder and salt as per taste to it. Mix well.

Heat enough oil for frying.

Take out a small ball of the ready dough and flatten it between your palms and gently slip to the oil and fry till you get a nice golden brown color and crispy crust over the vada.

Fry all the vadas by following the same procedure and enjoy with spicy green chutney or tangy lemon pickle.




*Note - You can apply little water to your palms while flattening vadas as the dough is bit sticky.
