Ingredients

For Stuffing -
  • 4 onions
  • 2 green chilies
  • 4-5 tsp gram flour
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • Half tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 2-3 tsp coriander leaves
  • 2 tsp oil

For Dough -
  • 1 cup wheat flour
  • 1 cup all purpose flour (maida)
  • 2 tsp semolina (rawa)
  • 1 tsp carom seeds
  • 2 tsp oil
  • Salt as per taste
  • Water to knead dough

Recipe

Dough -

Take wheat flour, all purpose flour and semolina in a mixing bowl. Now add carom seeds, 1 tsp oil and salt as per taste to it and mix well.

Now start adding little water and start kneading dough like we knead for making roti.

Grease the dough with 1 tsp oil.

Cover the dough with a wet cloth and keep it aside.

Stuffing -

Finely chop onions, chilies and coriander leaves.

Heat oil in a wok and add onions and chilies to it and cook well till they become soft. Add gram flour and mix well. Add 2-3 tsp of water to it and mix well.

Now add all dry spices red chili powder, turmeric powder and cumin powder to it and mix well. Add salt as per taste and finely chopped coriander leaves. Mix well and cook over a lower medium flame for 3-4 minutes stirring in between.

Take out the stuffing in bowl and let it cool down.

Onion Paratha -

Take a small ball out of the kneaded dough and roll a 4 inch roti out of it. Place 2 spoon full of stuffing into it and close it nicely from all sides and form a ball of it.

Now dust some dry wheat flour over the platform and roll the stuffed ball.

Heat a skillet and place the rolled and stuffed paratha over it. Grease both sides of paratha by little oil and cook it till you get nice golden crust over it on both the sides by gently flipping it.

Follow the same procedure for making the remaining parathas.

Enjoy these parathas with chilled curd, raita or any pickle of your choice.
