Aaloo Tikki

Aaloo......Potatoes....This is a veggie that can be experimented any time. Though potatoes are full of fats but at the same they are very tasty and we can make lot of varied recipes out of it.
Today I am sharing a very yummy crispy and tasty Aaloo Tikki recipe with you all.
You can make these Tikkis at home anytime and enjoy with your family and friends. Even kids love this dish as it is less spicy.
You can make these Tikkis 100% oil free as well if you use a non-stick pan for making them.
You can serve these Tikkis for breakfast, as tea time snack, evening snack or simply anytime you want. Serve these Tikkis with Tomato Ketchup or garnish with Spicy and Sweet Chutney as chaat.


Aaloo Tikki
Ingredients

Tikki :-
  • 3-4 medium sized potatoes
  • 3-4 bread slices
  • A handful of coriander leaves
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 green chilies
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • Half tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt as per taste
  • Oil to shallow fry (optional as mentioned in description)

Garnish :-
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 small tomato
  • 2-3 tsp coriander leaves
  • 1 small cup sweet chutney
  • 1 small spicy green chutney
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 cup sev


Recipe

Boil potatoes.

Grind bread slices to bread crumbs in a grinder.

Finely chop onion, coriander leaves and chilies.

Take boiled potatoes in a mixing bowl and mash them nicely. Add bread crumbs, onions, coriander leaves, green chilies, red chili powder, turmeric powder and salt as per taste to it. Mix well and form a dough out of it.

Let the dough rest for 10-15 minutes.

Take out small part of the dough and form patty pressing between your palms.
Make all the patties out of the dough.

Heat a pan and brush it with little oil and place tikkis over it gently. Cook the tikkis from both the sides by gently flipping it. Cook the Tikkis till you get a nice golden brown crust over them.


Serving :-

Place 1 or 2 tikkis in a bowl and garnish with sweet and spicy chutney. Top it with finely chopped onion, tomato, coriander leaves, sev and at last sprinkle red chili powder over it and serve like chaat.

OR

You can simply place Tikkis in a plate and serve it with tomato ketchup.
